Allergens in Carpet

Are you suffering from allergies this season?  Do you have carpet in your home?  Has it been over a year since it was last professionally cleaned?

If you answered yes, to these questions, you are probably suffering from allergies because your carpets are dirty.  Carpet acts as a filter in your home, it traps soils, human & pet dander and gases.  When you vacuum, you are only removing between 79-81% of this dry matter.  The rest is trapped behind in your carpet.  Which you breathe.

The leading carpet manufacturers recommend that carpet needs to be professionally cleaned using hot water extraction every 6 months.

Browning in Carpet

Browning in carpet is actually known as soil wicking.  Have you ever had your carpet's cleaned (I hope) and had a spot that came right out when the technician cleaned right over it, but after they left and the carpet dried, the spot re appeared?  How did that happen?

Some spots are at the base of the carpet fibers, failure to vacuum before cleaning and technician error resulting in over wetting carpet are all causes to soil wicking.  As the water evaporates from the carpet it carries the soil particles to the surface of the carpet fiber resulting in showing the spot again.  Technicians need to be aware of how much the carpet is wet during cleaning and maintain their equipment to assure proper suction and removal of waste during the cleaning process.
