Carpet Cleaning and understanding the types of fibers

When it comes to cleaning carpet, knowing what the fiber is becomes an important factor.  Different fibers require different cleaning solutions based on the PH scale.  Such as, a wool rug would not be cleaned with the same PH solution as one for a nylon rug.  Wool is a natural fiber, from sheep, and nylon is a man-made synthetic fiber.  Wool requires a PH solution of 7; if it was cleaned with an acidic or high alkaline solution, this would damage the wool fibers.

Removing Pet Urine from Carpet

At Carpet Cleaning Atlanta by Magic Carpet, we understand Pet Urine Removal.  Seen daily in apartment homes and residential customers, our little furry family members can make a smelly mess, which we do not like.

The key point in pet urine removal is to treat it from the source.  As urine migrates down into the carpet, the spot spreads out going through the backing of the carpet, through the padding and sometimes reaching the sub floor.  When I refer to "source", we have to treat all the way to the furthest point.

The affected padding, must be replaced.  Any tack strip affected, must be replaced. The back of the carpet and the front of the carpet is treated with a professional grade enzyme treatment and then we finish by cleaning the back and front of the carpet.

We refer to this process as a GOC: Guaranteed Odor Control

If you have pet contamination on your area rug, we can remove that as well.  Your rug will be picked up by one of our staff and transported to our shop, where it will be soaked in the rug spa to remove contamination. Area rug cleaning includes pickup and delivery.

We can also treat the pet urine topically only, if you do not want to invest the money into the GOC, however, this process cannot be guaranteed as we are not treating it from the source.

How to Remove Bleach from Carpet?

Did you spill bleach on your carpet?  Do you feel that you will be left with a bleach spot in your carpet forever?  No worries, we can fix bleach spots!  At Carpet Cleaning Atlanta by Magic Carpet Inc., we specialize in color repair.  Our certified technicians have been trained and schooled on the proper products and techniques to master the color repair process.

Many customers call in and state that they need a "stain" removal from a bleach spill.  Customers are always interested to hear, that we will not be removing the bleach from the carpet but instead correcting it will color repair.

The best thing you can do as the homeowner is never put any product on it at home.  These products can impair our ability to correct the problem at which point you are left with having to do a patch repair.

Steps for Bleach Color Repair:
First, the bleach spot must be "de activated" or "neutralized." 
Second, we will add the color back to the carpet, depending on which colors are missing.  The colors that are missing will depend on what color your carpet is. 

Most beige carpets with bleach spots appear to have a yellow ring around them.  This is a good sign, which means color correction would be easier to accomplish.  If the spot is bright white, this makes color correction harder to correct.

Bleach Spot Dyes are much easier to correct to when they are smaller in size.

Protector is a great application to apply after the upholstery has been cleaned.  This product protects the fabric from soils and spills that can saturate into the fabric fibers.  It allows you time to grab a towel and BLOT (not rub) the liquid up before it sets into the fibers.

Why do I need to have my carpet's professional cleaned when they look clean?

The common mistake most homeowners make is not having their carpets cleaned on a regular basis because visually they appear clean.  Once your carpet looks dirty, it is past the point of needing to be cleaned.  It then becomes a restoration type cleaning and the soil particles can scratch the carpet fibers causing them to look dirty even though they were just cleaned.
